What I wrote
I finally finished the first draft of Outpost Asia, my sci-fi mystery on a British-Asian space station, and I started querying agents. It’s a long process!
I started a new project for NaNoWriMo 2022 - a historical fantasy called Ladies and Gentle Ships. It combines elements from my favourite book series by Patrick O’Brian with magic.
I’m also working on a co-authored romance project and tinkering with an old gaslamp fantasy mystery.
What I read
I read 29 books in 2022, most of them audio books. At a glance, I had a preference for historical, fantastical, and romantic fiction.
Some highlights:
Hither, Page by Cat Sebastian (historical romance)
Nobody’s Sweetheart Now by Maggie Robinson (historical romance)
Not One of Us by Alis Hawkins (historical mystery)
Farewell to the Liar by D.K. Fields (fantasy mystery)
Entangled Life by Merlin Sheldrake (non-fiction)
Gideon the Ninth by Tamsin Muir (fantasy)
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Madanna (fantasy romance)
The Red Scholar’s Wake by Aliette de Bodard (sci-fi romance)
